MDIConnect (ASP)

The computer used to connect to MDIConnect.com must use Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. The recommended browser is Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. Any other browser that supports the automatic download and installation of Active/X plug-ins can be used. Because of the way Netscape browsers handle the installation of plug-ins, MDI Achieve is not able to support Netscape browsers. (It is possible to manually configure Netscape 4.0 or higher browsers with the required "plug-in", but because each Netscape installation varies, it is not possible for MDI Achieve to support this manual configuration, or the ability or inability to connect to MDIConnect using a Netscape browser.)

Stand-Alone System

The following list defines requirements for various computers:

1. Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP Pro

  • 486/66 processor or faster (Pentium processor recommended)
  • For Windows 95 or Windows 98: 64 MB of RAM minimum
  • For Windows NT 4.0: 64 MB of RAM minimum (must run Service Pack 3 or later)

Note:

Effective June 30, 2006, Microsoft will no longer support Windows 98 or Windows ME. As of that date, MDI Achieve will be unable to provide support for these Operating Systems as well.

Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools Setup installs the majority of the files on the drive on which Windows is installed, regardless of the installation location you choose. To free disk space on your hard disk to meet the disk space requirements, you must free space on the drive on which Windows is installed.

2. Sun Solaris

  • Sparcstation 2 or higher
  • 32 MB of RAM (64 MB recommended) and English Solaris 2.5 or later
  • Disk space required to install (approximately): 68 MB

3. HP-UX

  • HP 9000 Enterprise Server, HP 9000 Workstation, or HP Visualize Workstation
  • 64 MB of RAM (96 MB recommended) and English HP-UX version 10.20 or later
  • Disk space required to install (approximately): 72 MB

Note: Some components and features may require additional resources such as a mouse or CD-ROM.

Supported Printers:

Any "Business Class" printer that is compatible with, or any Hewlett Packard Laser Printer using PCL 6 or substantial performance equivalent printer, with enough memory and print speed sufficient to meet the speed and volume requirements of your facility, and only if the printer may be used with the HP 4L or HP 4Plus printer drivers. The following printers are currently supported:

  • Printer Model Required Driver
  • HP Laserjet 1100 series HP Laserjet 4L
  • HP Laserjet 2100 series HP Laserjet 4L
  • HP Laserjet 2200 series HP Laserjet 4L
  • HP Laserjet 4000 series HP Laserjet 4Plus
  • HP Laserjet 8000 series HP Laserjet 4Plus

It is possible to use other printers that are capable of emulating the HP 4L or HP 4Plus.

Excluded Printers:

Printers MDI does not support are:

  • Printer Model
  • HP LaserJet 1000
  • HP DeskJets
  • HP OfficeJets
  • Canon BubbleJets
  • No Ink Jets

Required Connection

MDIConnect requires a broadband Internet connection. The recommended connections (in order of recommendation) are as follows:

  • T1
  • Cable Modem
  • ISDN
  • DSL

Although MDIConnect can be accessed via dial-up connection, MDI does not support this type of connection for routine operations.

THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENTS FOR MDICONNECT USE ARE HIGH SPEED ACCESS LINES, A NATIONAL ISP PROVIDER AND A HIGH PERFORMANCE PRINTER WITH ADEQUATE MEMORY.

Wireless Hardware Specifications (for e-Charting)

MDI's e-Charting module was designed for use with Clinical Care Solutions in a Wireless Network environment. A wireless network connects to an open port in your existing network switch to allow properly-equipped computers to share printers, files or Internet connections without any physical connections. In lieu of a wireless network, e-Charting can be used in a traditional connected LAN environment with handheld synchronized devices or kiosks.

Hardware Specifications for REPS

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • REPS Suite should only be installed as a dedicated server product. REPS Suite requires the default website in IIS. If other applications are using IIS or an instance of a version of Microsoft SQL, contact our Technical Support department before performing the installation. The server cannot be a domain controller. REPS Suite has not been tested in a virtual server environment and is currently not supported.
