Important
News from CMS
NPI and Dual
vs NPI Billing
CMS has announced
that the NPI MUST be submitted for the Billing and Pay-To Providers
as of January 1, 2008. The secondary providers (Physicians) can
still submit Legacy Only.
- Please
remember to switch your Medicare A / B intermediaries to Dual
or NPI Only mode.
- In the
3.4 release, to accommodate a physician with only a Legacy ID,
you will need to have your intermediary set at Dual mode.
- You
will still need to override the validations, but the ANSI
will build correctly.
- Validations
were kept in place to provide a way for users to track the
physicians whose NPIs are missing.
- The
NPI Only mode will not accommodate the Legacy IDs. This
format should be used once you have obtained NPIs from all
of your physicians.
CMS Annual
Physician Fee Schedule
The
new 2008 Physician Fee Schedule is available from the CMS Website
at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/PhysicianFeeSched/PFSCSF/list.asp.
Be sure to use
your state specific fee schedule to update your rates. Use
the Item Charge Update Tool available under System Maintenance to
import the new rates.
If you need
assistance with this, please contact Support.
Medicare
A Co-Insurance Rate Change
The Medicare A Co-Insurance rate will be $128.00 for the 2008
calendar year. QuickCare
will automatically update this rate with the 3.4 release. If
you need to have the new rate prior to installing the 3.4 release,
you may enter it in the QuickCare system manually. The update
will not duplicate the rate.
For
more information, please visit the CMS website at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/apps/media/fact_sheets.asp.

MDI Achieve Completes Microsoft Gold Partner
Certification Renewal
We are proud
to announce that MDI Achieve recently completed the renewal of our
Microsoft Gold Partner certification as part of our continuing efforts
to improve our products and services. This process required that
current MDI software users provide feedback via Microsoft's Client
Satisfaction Survey. We extend our thanks to the many customers
who completed the survey, as well as our staff who maintained high
levels of certification, to make this possible.

Point of Care
The rewritten Point of Care application has a brand new
look and it is more than just a new user interface! New features
have been added, such as:
-
'Off-line' functionality: If the kiosk is disconnected from
the QuickCare database, you can still record entries in
Point of Care. When a connection is re-established with
QuickCare, the data is automatically synchronized. No more
down-time!
-
Biometric login: Eliminate the need to enter your username
and password by using a simple finger scan. Our new POC
login steps you through a simple setup for recording a user's
fingerprint image. This image is encrypted and stored so
the next time you log in, you can just press your finger
on the reader to log in. Very secure!
